Growth Hormone Testing

There's much confusion about growth hormone, what it does and how to know if you need it. Hopefully, this video about testing for growth hormone deficiency will help.

These 4 video clips will explain to you the process of documenting low growth hormone. There are two issues: 1. Proving medically that you would benefit from growth hormone and 2) doing all that's required legally (precribing GH to someone who is not deficient is grounds for the physician losing his license or going to prison).

Part 1 of 4

Why growth hormone cannot be measured directly like most other tests.

Part 2 of 4

Measuring IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1). IGF-1 last for 5 to 7 weeks. Growth Hormone only lasts minutes to a few hours at most so cannot be measured directly UNLESS the pituitary is stimulated to make growth hormone (hence a STIM test---short for stimulation).

Part 3 of 4

(that's my iPhone--not yours-- that rings in the middle of this video. Excuse me).

Part 4 of 4

To schedule your stim test, call the office at 251-342-6466.

The price for the test is $275 (paid when you make the appointment). This test is only done for my patients and these videos are here for their education and the education of others.

Stim Testing Prepayment (to cover cost of nurse and supplies) $275

The nurse for this test only comes a few times a month--usually on a Thursday.

If you are not my patient and are curious about what your IGF-1 might be, then you can go here to order (unless you live in California or New York).

Peace & Health,
